Pretty much exactly a year ago I was in Sydney (but just missed fashion week) and completely fell in love with it.
Having such an exciting city plus amazing beaches plus breathtaking nature around you, seems like the perfect recipe for a city. If it wasn't so far away, I'd definitely consider living there. And even though the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Australia is thousands of miles away, it is definitely worth following as the designs and street styles will surely be seen to influence fashion globally (hello, big Ellery-style sleeves).
Local designers, like Ellery and Dion Lee, are exciting and innovative with a heavy emphasis on sculptural cuts, great layering and monochromatic colour palettes. And even though there's also a lot of that to be seen on the streets in front of the shows, the street style is beautifully colourful too. Especially Parisian stylist Catherine Baba shows how to actually make florals ground-breaking for spring. Have a look at my favourites below.
